Appointments

Appointments can be held either online or ‘in person’ here in my room in Oxton, Wirral.

The first session or the first few sessions can be helpful in deciding if I am the right therapist for you.

The unprecedented Global health emergency presented by COVID-19, and consequent restrictions on in-person meetings challenged our long-held reservations in mental health professions towards the provision of psychotherapy and counselling remotely and online. To reassure you, efficacy levels can be achieved when delivering EMDR and CBT therapy through online sessions as well as achieving good therapeutic engagement and safety between the therapist and client.

Hello and welcome to my website!

Whether you are considering contacting me for some personal therapy or want to find out some information about me or therapies available - you are most welcome.

Thinking about therapy is often a courageous first step and can be fraught with self-doubt, both in choosing the right therapist and the right therapy …and it's not unusual to end up wondering if you need it at all…in my experience this cycle can go on for months or a number of years. The first session or first few sessions can be helpful in deciding whether I'm the right therapist for you.

I have worked with people experiencing emotional difficulties or distress for over 30 years. I work with adults, young people, and children.

I offer a safe, professional, friendly and confidential service for people who are experiencing distress or struggling to move on with their lives in some way. This might include anxiety, low mood or depression; lack of confidence or the after effects of distressing experiences or trauma.

Anxiety and stress can include Generalised Anxiety Disorder/excessive worry, Panic, OCD, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Phobias, PTSD, Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Eating Disorders, Complex Grief.

I specialise in the assessment and treatment of complex trauma or Complex PTSD (CPTSD) following difficult or abusive childhood and adult experiences.

I have undertaken additional training in Attachment Focused EMDR.

You may have developed ways of coping or particular behaviours that no longer seem to help. You may have got into habits of thinking about yourself negatively or believe yourself to be flawed in some way.

You may have experienced or witnessed distressing events or traumas that you continue to think about, or try to avoid thinking about but can’t. You may have had difficult childhood experiences or relationships that continue to affect you.

It is possible that you are experiencing unpleasant physical or bodily sensations, think negatively about yourself or have got into behaving in ways that do not seem to help or make the problem worse. Whatever symptoms are experienced, it is likely you will want to feel emotionally relieved or better.
